2. Community Service Requirement
In addition to the standard graduation requirements, Inferno High School emphasizes the importance of giving back to the community. As part of the school’s mission to foster responsible and engaged citizens, students must complete 40 hours of community service by the time they graduate. These hours should be spread out across the student’s senior year.
Examples of acceptable community service include:
Volunteering at local charities, shelters, or food banks
Participating in environmental clean-up efforts
Tutoring or mentoring younger students
Assisting with community events or programs
Students must submit a log of their hours, signed by a supervisor, to the school’s guidance office for approval.
3. Attendance Requirement
Students must maintain an attendance rate of at least 90% for all four years of high school. Excessive absences (more than 18 days per school year) may impact the ability to graduate, unless excused due to health or family emergencies.
4. Standardized Testing Requirements
MAP (Missouri Assessment Program) Testing: Students must meet the state’s minimum scores on the MAP test to demonstrate proficiency in core subjects (Math, English, Science, and Social Studies).
ACT or SAT: All students are encouraged to take the ACT or SAT before graduation. Although it is not a formal requirement for graduation, Inferno High School recommends achieving a score that is competitive for college admissions if students plan to pursue higher education.
5. Graduation Ceremony Participation
To participate in the graduation ceremony, students must complete all coursework, pass all required exams, and meet the community service hours. If a student has not fulfilled the requirements by the end of their senior year, they will be provided with a remediation plan to ensure they can graduate the following summer.
6. Behavior and Conduct
Good Standing: Students must maintain good standing in terms of behavior, respect, and adherence to school policies. Serious infractions such as bullying, drug use, or violence may result in disciplinary action, including the potential denial of graduation.
Senior Accountability: In their senior year, students must also attend regular meetings with a guidance counselor to track their academic progress, community service hours, and any other requirements for graduation.
7. Additional Opportunities for Enrichment
To foster a well-rounded education, students are encouraged to take part in extracurricular activities such as:
Clubs and Organizations: Drama club, debate team, student government, etc.
Athletics: Participation in school sports teams (football, basketball, soccer, etc.)
Internships: Students can pursue internships related to their career interests, which may count toward their elective credits or community service hours.
